It was a sunny day, very pleasant and perfect for some
adventure. The clouds were looking so beautiful and the empty road filled with
green belts and blooming trees and flowers melted our heart straight away.
After all there is a reason Islamabad is one of most beautiful capital in the
world.
At start of Said Pur village there
was a old fashioned well telling us about our culture and old method of
extraction of water from earth. This huge ball was rotated by people when they
had to extract water for domestic
purposes and by cows and bulls for purpose of agriculture. There was
also a “mandi” where there were cows and sheeps
present. Staying in middle of animals and these old equipments gave me a
pretty accurate idea about village life and its aspect which as one of unique experience.
We also saw a Sikh Gurdwara in Said Pur as well as the prayer place of Hindus. It showed to us that what Quaid said in 1947 about right
of minorities was not just a fancy catch phrase. Non-Muslims have as much independence and
freedom to practice their religion and beliefs here as much as Muslims are. The Sikh Gurdwara had names written
on stairs. They were people who made this Gurdwara. The fact that there are 2
religious representation of Sikh and Hinduism in a Muslim country is a symbolic gesture that we don’t hate anyone on
basis of their cast, religion or any physical attribute. These are also teaching of Holy Prophet (PBUH).
There was also one rare
picture in Dharmshala which showed Mr Doxiadis explaining the master plan for Islamabad to CDA officials as well as a picture of president of Pakistan reviewing that master
plan of capital. The view of Margallah hills, the closely bounded streets, the
free roaming animals and other factors gave us a unique feeling that people in
villages are used to but we rarely encounter. After the lunch we visited every
corner of village tring to soak this wonderful experience inside us as much as
possible and went home with a plan to return to rejoice this wonderful
experience very soon.
I wish I could visit those places, so beautiful and peaceful. A much needed break from our busy urban lifestyles... ♥
